Coro Ángela Peralta

The Ángela Peralta Choir was created in 1992 and since then around 700 people have polished their voices under the guidance of maestro Antonio González. It represents one of the most outstanding artistic groups of the Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlan, and within it have formed voices that today shine with their own light in the national and international lyrical panorama, among them: Carlos Osuna, Adán Pérez, Carla Muñoz, Georgina Valdez, Jesús Medina, Radha Murillo, Patricia Pérez and Fernando Martínez.

The choir is made up of people dedicated to different professions and trades, even by housewives who sing for the love of art, because they do not receive salary in exchange for their performance, but their passion and musical discipline has been the best introduction to the public that does not stop buying a ticket every time it is presented.

The Angela Peralta Choir has received support from Friends of the Opera, A.C., the Cultural Institute of Mazatlan and the federal and state governments through the scholarships of Mexico in Escena and Foeca.

His artistic legacy remains valid thanks to the vocation of those who have passed through his ranks, but above all, to the fortunate direction of Maestro Antonio González, who has been able to take advantage of the free time of the singing fans and guide them towards levels of vocal maturity that they border on the professional.

With the foundation of the Angela Peralta Choir, Antonio González, virtuoso pianist and singer from Monterrey, aroused the concerns of a city that has always shown great artistic vocation.

Amahl and the nocturnal visitors, was the first operatic show in which the Angela Peralta Choir participated, an opera by Gian Carlo Menotti that marked his debut at the legendary Teatro Ángela Peralta.

A little more than two decades after its birth, the CAP occupies a privileged place among the most important polyphonic organizations in Mexico and its constant work has been fundamental to lower costs in the production of operas of local manufacture.

Elixir de Amor, El Barbero de Sevilla, La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Trouble in Tahiti, Carmen, Dido and Eneas, Luisa Fernanda, La Boheme and La Verbena de la Paloma, concerts of symphonic and choral music, oratorios and zarzuelas, have given to the members of the Choir, the opportunity to show the world, their vocal caliber.
