La ceremonia de premiación se realizó en el Palacio de Bellas Artes, en donde el joven artista de 21 años de edad recibió un estímulo económico de 25 mil pesos y un reconocimiento del Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana.La música compuesta por Torrijos para la obra “Guest”, del coreógrafo Ebert Ortiz, contó con la colaboración de un grupo de artistas mazatlecos de la Escuela de Música del Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán: la asesoría del maestro Sergio Freeman y las voces de las cantantes Mariela Angulo, Eimy Sánchez, Fernanda Osuna y Rebeca De Rueda.
El Premio Nacional de Danza ´´Guillermo Arriaga´´, Concurso de Creación Coreográfica Contemporánea, inició en 1980 y es impulsado por la Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, en colaboración con el Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes y la Fundación INBA A.C., con el objetivo de premiar a los coreógrafos, bailarines, iluminadores y músicos más talentosos de México que se enfocan en el amplio discurso de la danza contemporánea mexicana

Percussionist Mazatlan is awarded for Best Original Music On July 15, the Mazatlecan percussionist Jonathan Torrijos, student of the School of Music of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan, was awarded the prize for Best Original Music of the Guillermo Arriaga National Dance Award, 36th competition of Choreographic Creation, INBA-UAM 2017. The awards ceremony was held at the Palacio Bellas Artes, where the young  21-year-old artist received an economic stimulus of 25 thousand pesos and recognition from the National Institute of Fine Arts and the Metropolitan Autonomous University. The music composed by Torrijos for the work “Guest”, by choreographer Ebert Ortiz, had the collaboration of a group of Mazatlecan artists from the School of Music of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlan: the advice of the master Sergio Freeman and the voices of singers Mariela Angulo, Eimy Sanchez, Fernanda Osuna and Rebeca De Rueda. The “Guillermo Arriaga” National Dance Contest of Contemporary Choreographic Creation, started in 1980 and is driven by the Metropolitan Autonomous University, in collaboration with the National Institute of Fine Arts and the INBA Foundation AC, with the objective of rewarding choreographers, dancers, illuminators and the most talented musicians from Mexico that focus on the broad discourse of contemporary Mexican dance.
