This Friday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ángela Peralta Gallery, the Mazatlan writer Patricia Carrillo Collard will present for the first time her book “Nadie que me understand”, a work worthy of the 2015 Gilberto Owen National Literature Award, in the category of story.
In 19 stories inspired by her family history, the author uses the simplicity, humor and sharpness of the Sinaloan popular language to explore human nature through “Don Guillermo”, a man born in the state in 1900 full of fascinating contradictions: tender, macho, amiguero, charismatic and loving whose life is told by some of his loved ones and through multiple narrative resources.
For this presentation, the Buenos Aires writers Julio Zatarain and Saúl Valdez, winners of the FONCA Young Creators Grant in the 2017 and 2018 editions, will chat with Patricia Carrillo Collard about her book, an important work for contemporary Sinaloan literature, which invites laughter, nostalgia, reflection and amazement.
Patricia Carrillo Collard, was born in Mazatlan in 1972. She has a degree in Economics from ITAM and a Master in Public Policy from Princeton University. Scholar of the State Council for Culture and the Arts of Jalisco (2015-2016). Gilberto Owen National Literature Prize 2015. He has published the children’s story books “Aventuras de una nube” and “Encrucijada”. His stories appear in literary magazines such as Timonel and Luvina.
