Going along the yellow brik road, children from different schools in Mazatlán, from the preschool and primary levels, made their arrival at the Angela Peralta Theater on Tuesday morning to enjoy the fun show with the musical theater adaptation of “El Mago de Oz” , the classic story of Frank Baum.
Spring Season 2019 of the Municipal Instituto de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan once again managed to bring together more than 50 artists on stage, colorful costumes, spectacular scenery and artistic lighting, students of the Children’s Theater Workshop of the Municipal Arts Center and the Children’s Choir of the Municipal Arts Center, under the direction of maestro Giovanny Armenta, managed to get students from seven schools to enjoy this beautiful work full of magic, joy and color.
One of the most beloved stories of all time, tells what happens to Dorothy, a girl who lives with her aunt and uncles in Kansas and a powerful tornado takes her with her puppy Totó through the clouds, transporting them to a land of fantasy, the magical world of Oz, where good witches like “Glenda” and bad ones like “Witch of the East and West” live, in search of their return home, a fairy advises her to look for the magician of the town, there she makes three friends, The Scarecrow, The Tin Man and The Lion, initiating a great adventure.
The children attending elementary schools such as: Begsu School, Salvador Allende, José Cayetano Valadez, Niños Heroes, Gilberto Soto, as well as the Children’s Gardens Enrique Rebsamen, and Leonor López Orellana, were kept interested at all times and at the end of the play in each of the two functions that were carried out, they gave the artists a great ovation.
