After two days of delighting locals and tourists, the opera “Tosca” closed its brief season at the Ángela Peralta Theater, thus marking the start of the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2022.
The cast of the opera written by Giacomo Puccini in 1900, had Enrique Patrón de Rueda as Concert Director, in addition, there were the best voices of Mexican opera such as the soprano María Katzarava, baritones Óscar Velázquez, Leoncio Luna, as well as tenors Eduardo Niave, Ernesto Ochoa and Eduardo Tapia, and bass baritones Miguel Valenzuela and José María Lora, in addition to the stellar performances of the Ángela Peralta Theater Orchestra, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the CMA Children’s Choir, providing a performance to remember.
“Tosca” is a romantic opera inserted in a true historical setting in Europe in the 1800s, in the midst of Napoleon’s invasion of Italy in pursuit of his revolutionary ideas.
Floria Tosca, a role played by the best Mexican soprano María Katzavara, is a beautiful young woman who lives an intense love with her boyfriend, painter Mario Cavaradossi, a couple who, in search of their happiness, have to face the police chief. Scarpia, who breaks up the relationship in a bloody way, to stay with the love of the lady.
Faced with the death of her lover, Tosca seeks revenge against the evil policeman and succeeds, to finally take his life, a stage job that ultimately won the applause and admiration of the hundreds of attendees who attended the TAP.
During this last quarter, the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2022, directed by José Ángel Tostado Quevedo, becomes a solid proposal to project the best talents in different disciplines, resulting in the local public winning with quality in each event.
