Before an Ángela Peralta Theater brimming with emotions, the first of three performances of the Christmas Gala was presented.
The holiday classic won over happy audiences from the start, with images of Santa Claus soaring through the night sky in his iconic magical sleigh pulled by his reindeer, on a fascinating journey that crosses the city and makes its way through the snow of the mountain.
Music, snowflakes, lights, pine trees and iconic Christmas characters such as “Niño Jesús, María y José”, gave life to the spectacular production of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, which summoned soloists, choirs, dancers classical dance, contemporary dance and the orchestra.
Operatic singers Alejandro Yépez, Jorge Echeagaray, Juan Fernando Martínez, Mariela Angulo, Marysol Calles, Patricia Pérez, Radha Murillo and Anthony Murphy moved the audience with emblematic Christmas themes.
Christmas bell fantasy, The wonder of Winter, A friend like me, It’s the most wonderful time of the year, El niño del tambor, Peces en el río, Campana sobre campana, were some of the most enjoyed pieces of the night.
Anthony Murphy, with 18 years of experience on international stages, was the most applauded as he demonstrated his vocal quality, artistic flair and scenic mastery by joyfully interpreting Christmas songs in which he imposed his electrifying style and as a reward for his brilliant performance, the audience gave him gave resounding applause and effusive Bravos!.
The Ángela Peralta Choir under the direction maestra Mary Murillo; the Children’s Choir of the Instituto de Cultura of Mazatlán, directed by Mariela Angulo; the Mazatlán Ballet Company, the Municipal School of Classical Ballet directed by Guillermo Carrillo; the choreographic direction of Zoila Fernández and the Professional School of Dance of Mazatlán directed by Victor Ruiz, made this show possible, enriched with the projection of videos that recreated fascinating and emotional Christmas scenes.
The Christmas Gala ended with a message of peace and good wishes to have a Merry Christmas and when leaving the room, the public -among which were the candidates for the reigns of the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2023- tasted sweets, punch, fritters, and esquites while outside, children, youth and adults hit the piñata with sticks.
