One of the best productions of 2018, “Cría puercos”, the first film by Ehécatl García, will be exhibited this Saturday, September 14th, 2024 at the “Marco Lugo” Cinema of the Municipal Arts Center, starting at 6:00 p.m., a function that you cannot miss, admission is free.
The film is a delicate and moving work that explores loneliness and redemption through the story of Esmeralda, a widow who, in the absence of her son, finds a new purpose in caring for a piglet.
With a masterful performance by Concepción Márquez, which earned her a nomination for the Ariel Awards in the Best Actress category, the film manages to convey a wide spectrum of emotions, from the deepest sadness to the simplest hope.
García’s direction is characterized by its subtlety, allowing moments of silence to speak for themselves. Mexican rurality is portrayed with an authenticity rarely seen in contemporary cinema, giving it an almost poetic dimension.
Although the film is slow-paced, its focus on the details and humanity of the characters makes “Cría puercos” a deeply satisfying cinematic experience.
The film is shown in its original language, Spanish.
