The Camerata Mazatlán shined at the San Carlos Borromeo Parish with its inaugural presentation of “Cultura con Historia”, a program of the Mazatlán Cultural Festival 2024.
On October 23rd, dozens of people of all ages gathered in the emblematic building of the Palos Prietos neighborhood to enjoy an unforgettable concert, a musical journey that spanned from the 17th to the 20th century, demonstrating that classical music is still popular with the public.
Under the direction of maestro Sergio Freeman, the Camerata Mazatlán performed in instrumental sections, and offered a unique concert that delighted the audience from beginning to end.
After the words of the orchestra director, the Brass Quintet made up of Julián Vidal and Armando Salmerón on the horns; Jorge Mejía on trumpet; Juan Carlos Chavarría and Álvaro Ojeda on trombone, performed masterpieces of the Italian Renaissance and innovative compositions of the German Baroque.
The woodwind trio, made up of Frida Fernández (flute), Israel Aragón (clarinet) and Mitzy Burgueño (bassoon), transported the audience with typical melodies from Spain and Brazil, playing emblematic pieces such as “Tango y Malagueña” by Isaac Albéniz and “Tico, Tico” by Zequinha Abreu.
The string orchestra, with its violin, viola, cello and double bass members, received the biggest ovation of the night when they performed pieces by Mozart, Bach, Sibelius, Gershwin and Grieg. The musical tour included pieces such as Aire sobre la Cuerda de G, Gavota, Andante Festivo, classical themes that were created in different periods from the 17th to the 20th century, current in the public’s taste.
Through these presentations, the Mazatlán Cultural Festival 2024 continues to surprise the Port’s audience and visitors.
