Members of the Board of Directors unanimously approved the financial statements for July, August, September and October 2024 of the Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism and Art of Mazatlán.
During the session, they congratulated the General Director of CULTURA, Raúl Rico González, for having put things in order, maintaining healthy finances and raising the quality of events, generating a positive impact on the tourism sector and the local economy.
The XIV ordinary session was chaired by Adda Sarahí Rosas Medina, secretary of the City Council on behalf of the Mayor of Mazatlán, Edgar González and by Raúl Rico, General Director of the paramunicipal.
During the session, the budget increase for the month of September was unanimously approved, a period in which the show presented on the night of the Grito de Independencia was added to the programming; In addition, in September, maintenance work was carried out at the Angela Peralta Theater, the Municipal Arts Center, galleries and Casa Haas.
On another point, all the councilors approved the cancellation of the accounts receivable of the no-longer Mazatlán Aquarium, but they asked to submit a request to the Office of the Attorney General and to the Internal Control Body of the City Council, as the bodies responsible for investigating and following up on this case.
On other points, a list of Asset Deductions and the Acquisitions program for this year were approved.
The Director of Cultura gave a report on the Municipal Arts Center, which during the current cycle works with an enrollment of 748 students, and regarding educational validations, it was reported that the SEPyC has already authorized the new COE’s for the processing of procedures for each of the careers and the issuance of professional titles and certificates.
On general matters, the General Director of Cultura, Raúl Rico, was congratulated for his management at the head of CULTURA.
“This administration came to face challenges not only in the administrative area, because there was disorder, it is a public resource and the least we can do is use it neatly,” said councilor Martín Torres.
The councilor added that in addition to returning tranquility to the artistic community, the cultural heritage was rescued and healthy finances were maintained and that speaks well of the current administration of Cultura.
In turn, councilor Bernardo Alcaraz expressed his gratitude to the artistic community of the CMA for embracing the arts and for their willingness “because together they gave the right direction” to the cultural project of Mazatlán.
Rico González thanked the councilors for their support and stressed that the greatness of the cultural project of this city lies precisely in the CMA where there are very valuable people “we are no longer importing” (artists), he said.
In turn, Sergio Romero Barrera, representative of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Companies of Mazatlán, highlighted: “As a hotel sector, we saw that the change was radical, as a result of taking control, the quality and level of the shows, allowed us hoteliers to promote and have longer tourists stays.”
Councilwoman Rocío Quintana Pucheta recognized the experience and passion with which the arts have been promoted during the current administration of CULTURA.
