For promoting Mazatlán as a tourist destination and because the quality and frequency of the shows produced by CULTURA have allowed tourists to stay longer in the port, which has had a positive impact on the local economy, the General Director of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán, Raúl Rico González was awarded the “Golden Deer”.

The presentation of the prestigious Golden Deer took place on Thursday night within the framework of the Friends of Mazatlán Festival, organized by the Association of Hotels and Tourism Companies.

In this event held from October 28th to 30th, entrepreneurs from the tourism sector and representatives of national and international airlines, wholesale operators, and specialized media from Mexico, the United States and Canada participated.

Meeting again after a four-year break, representatives of the tourism sector toured the city to learn about the new tourist experiences offered by the destination and culminated with a gala dinner at the Nuevo Acuario Mazatlán, the setting for the Golden Deer award ceremony, a recognition to those who have worked hard throughout the year to promote the destination.

In this framework of reunion, promotion and recognition, the Folkloric Ballet of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán directed by maestro Javier Arcadia, gave an unforgettable Sinaloa Fiesta, in which the joy of Carnaval and the presence of the beautiful queens of the greatest Port fiesta could not be missed: Carolina Ruelas, Queen of the Mazatlán Carnaval 2024; Siu Ling Cotero, Queen of the Floral Games 2024, Karen Cabrales, Queen of the Carnaval 2013 and the current Princess, Catalina Castellanos.

A total of 48 dancers offered dazzling choreographies with contagious rhythms and the public enjoyed well-known songs such as “De Mazatlán a Acaponeta”, “El Coyote”, “El niño perdido” and to share the contagious joy of the Port’s Carnaval they danced “Tecateando”, El toro mambo and “Mambo 08” to conclude with “El Sinaloense” sung by Lola Beltrán, the Queen of Ranchera Songs.
