The winner of the Palme d’Or at the last Cannes Film Festival, “Anora” (2024), by director Sean Baker, will be screened this Saturday, January 25th, at the ‘Marco Lugo’ Cinema of the Municipal Arts Center starting at 6:00 p.m.
The feature film premiered on May 21st, 2024 at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, while in theaters it was released on October 18 of the same year. The film received critical acclaim and was selected as one of the 10 Best Films of 2024 by the National Board of Review and the American Film Institute.
It also received five nominations at the 82nd Golden Globes, including Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, Best Actress, and Best Director.
“Score” has grossed more than $25 million worldwide, making it the director’s highest-grossing film.
The hit film is a standout comedy-drama that chronicles the life of Ani, a Brooklyn sex worker whose everyday life changes dramatically after she becomes involved with the son of Russian oligarchs at a New York nightclub.
The film is distinguished by its deeply human approach, masterfully balancing humor and tragedy in a story that resonates with its authenticity. The lead actress’ performance has been particularly praised, providing a nuanced and emotional portrayal that enriches the story.

Admission is free, limited capacity, the film is shown in its original language with Spanish subtitles, access will be 20 minutes before the screening. Admission is at the main entrance of the CMA located on Calle Carnaval S/N on the Machado plaza.
