The Mazatlán International Carniaal 2025 “La Perla” promises spectacular events with the fusion of international artists and Sinaloa talent. In a press conference held this morning at the Ángela Peralta Theater, Raúl Rico González, General Director of CULTURA, gave details of the program accompanied by Carolina Ruelas, Queen of Mazatlán Carnaval 2024 and Siu Ling Cotero, Queen of the Floral Games.

ELECTION OF SOVEREIGNTS

Among the major events of the Mazatlán International Carnaval is the counting of votes for the election of the Children’s King and Queens on February 7th at 6:00 pm in the Plazuela República and the Election of Queens on February 8th at 7:00 pm in the Ángela Peralta Theater.

ARTS EVENING

On Saturday, February 22nd at 8:00 p.m., the Ángela Peralta Theater will be the stage for the Evening od the Arts “A Night in Vienna,” a magical event with sublime music by Strauss that will transport us to the elegance and sophistication of imperial Vienna and will be the perfect setting for the presentation of the Mazatlán Literature Prize 2025, which will award 100 thousand pesos (provided by the UAS) and an award to the author of the winning work.

In this show, the public will enjoy the music of Johann Strauss, performed by the Camerata Mazatlán, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the guest soloists Jéssika Arévalo (soprano), Andrés Carrillo (tenor), Vanessa Gama (soprano) and Sarah Holcombe (mezzo-soprano), under the direction of maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda. The Mazatlán Ballet Company, directed by maestro Zoila Fernández, will also perform. José Medina will be the stage director.
The program will include works by Johann Strauss such as:
“Graduation Ball”, an orchestral suite that evokes the elegance and sophistication of 19th century Vienna. This work is one of Strauss’ most famous and is known for its energetic rhythm and catchy melody.

“The Bat”, an operetta considered one of Strauss’s masterpieces. The work tells the story of a man seeking revenge against his friend who cheated on him, the production is known for its light and fun music, as well as its humor and satire.

KING’S CORONATION

On Thursday, February 27th, starting at 7:30 pm at the Teodoro Mariscal stadium, during the Coronation of the King of the Carnaval, Jorge Medina and Josi Cuen will perform. Their musical career is deeply linked to one of the most successful and remembered stages of La Arrolladora Banda El Limón, and they are currently presenting their show ‘Juntos’ with great success.

CENTENARY OF THE FLORAL GAMES

On Friday, February 28th, Mazatlán celebrates 100 years of the Floral Games with a grand concert on the same stage starting at 8:30 pm, with the stellar performance of the international tenor Plácido Domingo.

Plácido Domingo will be accompanied by the Mazatlán Symphony Orchestra, the Guillermo Sarabia Choir and the Mexican Traditional Ensemble, all directed by Maestro Enrique Patrón De Rueda. Dancers from the Mazatlán Ballet Company and guests will appear on stage, directed by maestro Zoila Fernández, and maestro Eduardo Blanco, a notable dancer and choreographer of Cuban origin, recognized for his contributions to dance in various cities around the world.
Plácido Domingo is a multifaceted artist of world renown. Recognized as one of the best and most influential singing actors in the history of opera, he is also an orchestra conductor and an important opera manager. His repertoire today includes more than 150 roles, with more than 4,000 performances throughout his career.

QUEEN’S CORONATION

On Saturday, March 1sr at 6:30 pm during the Coronation of the Carnaval Queen, lovers of the Mexican regional genre will sing all the hits of Grupo Firme, which in 2022 broke attendance records, with more than 280 thousand people in the Zócalo of Mexico City.

CHILDREN’S CORONATION

On Monday, March 3 at 6:30 pm at the Children’s Coronation, the carnival public will live an unforgettable experience alongside the Spanish singer songwriter Alejandro Sanz, who has managed to sell more than 25 million records, consolidating himself as one of the most successful artists in the world.
With a successful musical career spanning more than three decades, Alejandro Sanz has established himself as one of the most well-known and influential artists. With more than 25 million records sold worldwide, all of his albums have obtained the status of multiple Platinum Record in Spain, Latin America and the United States.
His talent and dedication have been recognized with numerous awards and recognitions, including 25 Latin Grammys and 4 American Grammys and an Unplugged with MTV. In addition, he has collaborated with various national and international artists such as Alejandro Fernández, Marc Anthony, Alicia Keys, Joaquín Sabina, Luis Enrique, Jarabe de Palo, Jesse & Joy, Niña Pastori, Miguel Bosé, Zucchero, Ricardo Montaner, Camila Cabello, Carlos Vives, Nicky Jam, Laura Pausini, Juan Luis Guerra 4.40 and Joan Manuel Serrat, enriching his music and style.

LA ADICTIVA IN OLAS ALTAS AND PARADES

At the press conference it was announced that the ticket to enter the Carnaval nights in Olas Altas will cost 70 pesos and on Monday, March 3rd, during the traditional Monday of the Oppressed Husbands, in this beach area the hits of La Adictiva Banda will be played, a musical institution that will be celebrating 35 years of artistic career and will participate in the Carnaval parades on Sunday, March 2nd and Tuesday, March 4th.

Originally from the town of Mesillas Concordia, Sinaloa, the Banda San José de Mesillas, today La Adictiva, began its journey in music in 1990, a path dotted with successes such as surpassing the “billion” -1000 million reproductions- on YouTube with `despues de ti ¿Quién?´, the first song by a band to achieve this. With more than 1.7 million followers on social media, Banda La Adictiva is one of the most popular and successful groups in Sinaloa music; with 35 years of experience, the band has transformed its music to conquer lovers of regional Mexican music.

MONIGOTES

At the press conference, Raúl Rico reported that 11 carnival puppets will welcome the great party. The designs and creations will be: 3 by the Cuban artist Henry Wilson, 5 by the Monterrey painter and sculptor Jorge González Rodríguez and 3 by the Ninots team, known as the Spanish: José Ángel Trujillo and the Spaniard Juan José Boronat.

PARADES

The parades of the Mazatlán Carnaval “La Perla” will be majestic and full of fantasy with the novel appearance of 10 figures of fish and marine animals mounted on bicycles and 2 giant articulated puppets.
In 2025, the design and construction of the floats will be in charge of: Ocean Rodríguez Sainz (4 royal floats and the float of La Banda La Adictiva), Henry Wilson Albuernes (7 units, including 2 illuminated ones), Jorge González Rodríguez (5 floats, 4 designed by him and 1 by Henry Wilson), Equipo Ninots (2 floats), Antonio Rodríguez (1 luminous float, inclusive), Jorge Osuna (2 illuminated floats), Chavira (1 rolling float), Kreatos (4 floats, 1 Deer and 1 articulated whale), Rodrigo (1 float).
