The majestic portico of the Ángela Peralta Theater was graced Thursday afternoon with an exceptional recital, offered in gratitude for the generous donation of a Canadian Heintzman & Co. piano to the Music School of the Municipal Arts Center.
Liliana Aréchiga, CMA’s Educational Director, expressed her deep gratitude to Julia Northrup, a distinguished member of the Canadian community in Mazatlán, for her valuable gift.
Aréchiga emphasized that the piano will be a fundamental instrument for the development of young talents and the production of high-level cultural events.
At five o’clock sharp, the audience was delighted with the masterful performances of Juan Pablo García, soprano Vanessa Gama, and mezzo-soprano Rosa Ferreiro, members of the Opera Workshop directed by renowned maestro Enrique Patrón de Rueda, who enjoyed the recital from the audience.
Vanessa Gama’s repertoire included pieces that highlighted the beauty and power of her voice: “Vocalise,” “Caro nome,” “Bel raggio,” and “Estrellita,” each receiving standing ovations.
Rosa Ferreiro captivated the audience with her moving interpretations of “Cruda Sorte,” “Voce di donna,” “Carceleras,” “Cuando está tan hondo,” and “No niegues que me quisiste.” The recital culminated with a display of vocal talent in the duets “Semiramide” and “Bacarola,” performed by both singers. At the end, maestro Juan Pablo García praised the sound quality of the donated piano, while Rosa Ferreiro invited the audience to upcoming CMA events, highlighting the artistic talent flourishing in Mazatlán.
