The Arts Gathering is the ideal forum for Mazatlán children, adolescents, and adults to learn about the educational offerings of the Municipal Arts Center. These programs, officially recognized by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), range from workshops, technical level programs, and even bachelor’s degrees in Contemporary Dance, Singing, and Music.
These events will be held twice next Tuesday, March 25th. The first cultural event will be at 10:00 a.m., and the second starting at 4:00 p.m. These free events allow visitors to explore the CMA facilities and have the Ángela Peralta Theater as their main stage.
The event will begin with a tour of the CMA’s classrooms and facilities and culminate with a performance at the Ángela Peralta Theater, featuring the center’s artistic community, said Liliana Aréchiga Pérez, CMA’s educational director.
“This year, it’s aimed at middle and high school students. The idea is to spread the word about what we do at the CMA, introduce them to the bachelor’s degrees, technical programs, and workshops offered, and give our students the opportunity to showcase their skills in a formal setting, in front of an audience,” said Aréchiga.
The goal of the Arts Gathering is to promote the educational offerings and foster dialogue between students, artists, and teachers so they can experience the quality of the artistic teaching at the Municipal Arts Center.
Teachers or school principals interested in participating in the Arts Gathering can confirm their students’ attendance or request information by calling 669 982 44 46 and 47 ext. 106, or by visiting the school’s reception desk located on Carnaval Street S/N at Plaza Machado, or by following the link on official social media. Space is limited.
The Municipal Arts Center is part of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan. Nine artistic companies participate: the Classical Ballet Company, Ballet Folklórico de Cultura, Camerata Mazatlán, Ángela Peralta Choir, Guillermo Sarabia Choir, Delfos Danza Contemporánea, Iguana Roja Teatro, Youth Symphony Orchestra, and Children’s Orchestra.
