organized by the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan, includes an unforgettable musical experience with a performance of Franz Schubert’s famous “La Trucha” Quintet.

This Saturday, April 5th, at 7:00 p.m., the historic Casa Haas will be filled with the magic of this chamber music masterpiece, performed by an ensemble of exceptional musicians: Víctor A. Osuna, violin; Pablo López, viola; Citlali Cisneros, cello; Maritza Cisneros, double bass (all musicians of the Camerata Mazatlán) and Juan Pablo García, piano (master of the Municipal Arts Center and the Opera Workshop).

“La Trucha” is the popular name for Franz Schubert’s Piano Quintet in A major, cataloged as D. 667. Composed in 1819, when Schubert was only 22 years old, this work stands out for its freshness, its charming melody, and its innovative structure.

The quintet takes its name from the fourth movement, which is a set of variations on the theme of the song “Die Forelle” (The Trout), composed by Schubert in 1817. Unlike the traditional piano quintet, “La Trucha” is written for piano, violin, viola, cello, and double bass, giving it a rich and distinctive sound.

Although composed in 1819, the work was not published until 1829, a year after Schubert’s death. Despite this, it has become one of the most beloved and recognized pieces in the composer’s repertoire.

A concert with a purpose: Attending this event will not only allow you to enjoy the beauty of Schubert’s music, but will also contribute to a worthy cause. Admission costs $250.00, and all proceeds will benefit the participating musicians.
