The Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan offered an exciting and joyful musical afternoon in the portico of the Ángela Peralta Theater during the performance of the CULTURA Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Juan Carlos Chavarría.
The Youth Orchestra, composed of students from the CULTURA Music School, captivated audiences of all ages with nearly 60 minutes of repertoire filled with soundtracks from movies, video games, and children’s series.
The open-air performance brought joy to the audience, who, cell phones in hand, recorded memorable moments, and the adults, in particular, reminisced about their childhoods through music.
The repertoire included songs such as “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” the intro to the movie Toy’s Story.
The evening continued with the adventures of the most famous plumber when the orchestra played a medley from “Super Mario 64.” Already captivated by the variety of the repertoire, the audience enjoyed the theme song from Springfield’s most popular family, “The Simpsons,” followed by “Gladiator” and “The Godfather.”
One of the new series that has caused a sensation is “Bluey,” and its music touched the hearts of children, young people, and adults, who joined in with the classic whistling. The musical evening concluded with “The Incredibles,” “Monsters, Inc,” and “A Friend Like Me,” from the movie “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.”
The CULTURA Youth Orchestra and its conductor were bid farewell to loud applause and the thanks of the audience.
At the end of the concert, maestro Juan Carlos Chavarría expressed that the artists were amazed by the audience’s response, and the audience was comforted by melodies specially selected to celebrate Children’s Day.
“We are very happy with the positive response. We want you to continue supporting us with packed venues. We will have other performances soon, so stay tuned,” exclaimed maestro Chavarría.
