General Secondary School No. 6 “Cuauhtémoc” was filled with celebration, joy, and color this Tuesday at the launch of the Cultura in Education program launched by the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan to share artistic expressions with the municipality’s student community.

The event featured the outstanding participation of the Cultural Folkloric Ballet, directed by Javier Arcadia, and the Youth Folkloric Ballet, directed by Fernando Torres.

Hundreds of students from the morning class temporarily left class to enjoy a dance performance representative of the states of Jalisco, Chiapas, and Sinaloa.

At 10:00 a.m., the third call came, and the Youth Ballet took the stage to delight with their movements to the beat of songs such as “La Madrugada,” “Las Indias,” “El Caporal,” and “El Gavilancillo,” classics of Jalisco music.

The celebration continued with music from the Chiapas marimba to accompany the performance of “El Piri” and a medley from the southern state.

On the improvised stage set up by CULTURA staff, around 30 dancers captivated the young audience with their grace and joy, receiving loud applause as a reward.

With spirits high, the members of the Instituto de Cultura’s Folkloric Ballet took over the stage to dance traditional songs from the Sinaloan coast such as “Mazatlán” and “La Danza del Venado,” performed by soloist Isaac Hernández, who expressed his pride in representing the culture of Sinaloa and its roots.

The show concluded with a round of applause to the rhythm of “El sauce y la palma,” “El costeño,” and “El toro viejo.”

Cultura in Education_ continues this Wednesday, May 7th, at the Canizález Institute.
