This Wednesday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m., in Machado Square, a few steps from the portico of the Ángela Peralta Theater, professor Christian Daniel Torres Osuna will present his book “Hip Hop in Sinaloa: Rap and Its Economic, Social, and Communicative Aspects.”

This presentation, free to the public, will continue the “Dialogues of Our History” program sponsored by the Instituto de Cultura Mazatlan and the Municipal Arts Center.

The Mazatlecan author is a member of the National System of Researchers, an honorary researcher of the Sinaloa System of Researchers, and holds a doctorate in Communication, Social Change, and Development from the Complutense University of Madrid.

Furthermore, Christian Daniel Torres Osuna is an analyst of the cultural industries in general, and music in particular, from the perspective of the political economy of communication and culture, important elements that led him to research this musical culture, which is deeply rooted in the Port of Mazatlan and Sinaloa.

For Alonso Guerra, coordinator of the Dialogues of Our History program, this episode is interesting because it is the first time that hip hop, rap, and everything related to this industry have been discussed in this civic forum, and he has no doubt that there will be a good turnout and strong participation among both the audience and the artists.
