This Friday, May 16th, and Saturday, May 17th, Spring Season 2025 of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan invites you to enjoy the exciting Don Quixote Ballet, a bold adaptation inspired by the original work by Marius Petipa with music by León Minkus.

In this production, the action focuses more on the story of the brave and charming Kitri than on the adventures of Don Quixote and his faithful squire Sancho.

This gem of classical ballet will be performed by the Mazatlán Ballet Company, along with the promising talent of the students from the Municipal Classical Ballet School, who will fill the stage with grace, energy, and virtuosity, all under the artistic and choreographic direction of maestro Zoila Fernández Fernández.

In CULTURA’s spectacular production, Kitri is a woman of unparalleled character and audacity. The character will be played by Sandra Fernández and Martha Alcaraz, who will alternate in the roles.

Kitri is a brave woman, capable of saying no, who stands up for what she wants and is in love with the barber Basilio (Oscar Treto Hevia/Carlos Claramunt), but her father wants to force her to marry the young bourgeois Camacho, Gamache in the ballet (Manuel Hernández).

The influence of Spanish dance is noticeable in the ballet Don Quixote, as Marius Petipa dressed the characters in traditional attire and accessories such as castanets, fans, and flowers on their heads.

In this production, Kitri’s friends will captivate with their talent: Pamela Aguirre Talavera, Stephany Martínez Hurtado, and Aramara Monserrath Ayala Verde.
Bullfighters: Juan Carlos Santiago, Carlos Cervantes Trejo, Carlos Claramunt, and Oscar Treto Hevia.
Sword: Gean Lee Panchi Balseca.

Mercedes: Martha Mariana Romero Iribe / Stephany Martínez Hurtado.
Cupid: Aramara Ayala Hernández.

Queen Driada: Pamela Aguirre Talavera.

Special participation as a dance troupe of students from the Municipal School of Classical Ballet.
