As part of the 38th José Limón International Dance Festival, under the theme “Dance in Peace and Harmony,” the Mazatlán Ballet Company of the Instituto Munucipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan performed the choreographic work “Forever Sinatra” to great acclaim at the majestic Ángela Peralta Theater.

Directed by renowned choreographer Eduardo Blanco, this performance paid tribute to the musical legacy of Frank Sinatra and George Gershwin, interweaving the elegance of ballet with the sophistication of 20th-century American music. Through a careful selection of iconic pieces, the dancers of the Mazatlán Ballet Company—directed by Zoila Fernández—created a dialogue of movements that transported attendees to a golden age of romance, dim lighting, and urban glamour.

With a sober staging yet laden with symbolism—period lanterns, urban silhouettes, and a play of light that evoked the New York streets of yesteryear—the company offered a show that exalted the technical skill of its performers and reaffirmed the power of dance as an emotional and social vehicle.

“Por Siempre Sinatra” was not only a musical tribute, but a declaration of love for dance as a vital art form in the construction of identity and collective sensitivity. The production highlighted the importance of ballet in today’s society, showing how movement can bridge generations, languages, and emotions.

This Tuesday, the stage of the Ángela Peralta Theater welcomes dancers from the Mazatlán Professional Dance School with the work “Epiphanies,” and on Wednesday, May 7th, Johnny Millán and Xitlatli present “Impermanences.” Both performances are at 7:00 p.m.

Tickets for $200.00 are available at the Ángela Peralta Theater box office.
