The Institute Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan successfully held the “Spring Workshop,” a unique event dedicated to fostering children’s imagination and creativity. This Wednesday, the event took place at the Margarita ‘La Nana’ Ramírez Municipal Library, located in the Infonavit El Conchi.
In this enriching session, around twenty children, mainly from the Infonavit neighborhoods of El Conchi, Vista el Mar, and San Jorge, among other communities, enjoyed a performance of “Títeres a Escena” (Puppets on Stage) in the library auditorium. This entertaining play starring Pancho and Tencho captured the attention and brought smiles to the faces of the young audience through their dialogues and riddles.
After the performance, the children moved to the reading room where they participated in creating original puppets using socks, pieces of foam, scissors, silicone, and, above all, creativity and a lot of imagination.
Advised and motivated by their enthusiastic guides: Paola Navarro, Kébele Marín, and Gabriela Navarro, library staff and workshop facilitators, the children gave free rein to their imaginations by decorating and personalizing their puppets.
The objective of this activity is to stimulate the children’s imagination and motivate them to create their own characters, invent names for them, and prepare short presentations.
Amidst books on geography and history, literature and rhetoric, technology and applied sciences, and in a comfortable, cool environment thanks to air conditioning, the children unleashed their imaginations and enjoyed moments of wholesome recreation.
The recreational activity provided entertainment, encouraged personal expression, and the development of basic manual skills among the enthusiastic participants.
The children who attended the Spring Workshop are between 6 and 12 years old, and most participate in the library’s “Literary Thursdays.” This time, they were invited to this special activity during their school holidays and attended thanks to their availability and the support of their parents. Three more children even joined the regular group, demonstrating their interest in this type of initiative.
