A classic of Mexican cinema, “2 Tipos de Cuidado” (Two Kinds of Careful), arrives this Saturday, May 3rd, at the Marco Lugo Cinema of the Municipal Arts Center, with a screening that begins at 6:00 p.m.

Directed by Ismael Rodríguez, this feature film is one of the most endearing highlights of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. It was included on the list of the 100 best films of Mexican cinema according to specialized critics. Its legacy remains unshakeable, a love letter to friendship, ranchera music, and national identity.

The story follows two close friends: Pedro Malo (Pedro Infante) and Jorge Bueno (Jorge Negrete), united by a long-standing friendship. Their bond is shaken when a love triangle emerges that tests their loyalty and values. Amid vernacular music, verbal duels, and romantic disagreements, the film humorously and tenderly unravels the complexities of male friendship, honor, and romantic love in rural Mexico in the mid-20th century.

Ismael Rodríguez’s direction shines in his ability to balance drama and comedy with great ease, while the chemistry between Infante and Negrete is so powerful that it transcends the screen, imbuing each encounter and confrontation with authenticity.

The film not only became a resounding box office success but also a cultural touchstone, immortalizing phrases, songs, and scenes that continue to resonate in the Mexican collective memory.

Free admission, limited seating; doors open 20 minutes before the screening.
