DON QUIXOTE

Sinopsis

Although the ballet is called Don Quixote, the protagonist is not the famous nobleman or his squire Sancho, but a woman named Kitri. Kitri is a brave woman, capable of saying no, she takes a chance on what she wants, and is in love with the barber Basilio, but her father wants to force her to marry the young bourgeois Camacho, known as Gamache in the ballet. The influence of Spanish dance is noticeable in the ballet Don Quixote, as Marius Petipa dressed the characters in traditional attire and accessories such as castanets, fans, and flowers on their heads.
