“Tiburoneros” relata la vida de Aureliano (Julio Aldama) un capitalino que ha tenido que dejar a su familia para ganarse el sustento trabajando como tiburonero en las costas de tabasco. Con los años se ha ganado el respeto por su habilidad, honestidad y palabra, entablando lazos fraternales con sus compañeros de oficio. Aureliano mantiene una relación amorosa con Manela (Dacia González) una muchacha mucho más joven que él.Inevitablemente llega el momento de retornar con su familia a la capital y abandonar ese pequeño paraíso de felicidad que había construido.
Con la esencia neorrealista, Luis Alcoriza construye un relato sobre la personalidad salvaje de México. Una historia acerca de la realización personal a través del trabajo, la libertad y el amor, no importando encontrarlo lejos de los convencionalismos sociales.
