The International Theater Festival “Escena Mazatlan” continues this Sunday September 24 with “Rome in the Desert”, a work for adolescents and adults that revolves around three friends who want to fulfill the dream of going to Rome.
Rome in the desert presented by Drama Red, company of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Baja California, tells the story of three friends who, in the attempt to achieve their desire, go through a door that can turn their dream into a hell, one in where Rome is in the desert.
The work is presented at the Teatro Angela Peralta at 7:00 p.m. and is part of the extended trilogy of Daniel Serrano, who with his works, will build six trilogies with the Impossible Cities. Acting Kathya Reynoso, Karen Merchant and Estefanía Loaiza.
The dramaturgy and direction is by Daniel Serrano, playwright, scriptwriter, actor and theater director based in Tijuana since 1995. He was a student of Vicente Leñero, Hugo Argüelles, Jesús González-Dávila and Jaime Chabaud. Graduated from the Artistic Education Center of Televisa, San Ángel. From 1995 to 2008 he directed the University Theater Workshop, in addition to promoting this discipline by founding the University Theater Festival of the Autonomous University of Baja California. He has written about fifteen works among which are the last resource published in the Espacio Escénico Magazine that edited the Performing Arts Center of the Northwest (CAEN); The conquest of the Gordo and the route of the bees, published in the Los ineditos del CAEN Collection; Paris behind the door, finalist of the National Youth Dramaturgy Competition Gerardo Mancebo del Castillo 2003.
