On Saturday night, the singers Karla Arce, Mariela Angulo, Iván Valdez and José Miguel Valenzuela joined their vocal talent in the show Canto sin fronteras at Casa Haas, an intense and romantic concert livened up by the pianist Juan Pablo García.
With a calm, relaxed and joking character, the soprano Karla Arce, the mezzo-soprano Mariela Angulo, the tenor Iván Valdez and the bass José Miguel Valenzuela boasted in the first part of the concert the kindness of the zarzuela, this musical genre born in Spain that characterized by being dissected in instrumental, sung and even spoken parts.
Pieces like that you care not to come from “Los Claveles” by José Serrano, Despierta Negro from “La tabernera del puerto”, Torero I want to be from “El gato montés” and Te quiero morena from “El trust de los Tenorios” by José Serrano, were some pieces with which the musicians showed off in the first part of this concert presented by the Cultural Institute of Mazatlan.
After a brief intermission, Canto sin fronteras continued with a repertoire of Mexican songs such as Bésame mucho by Consuelo Velásquez, An old love by Alfonso Esparaza, Quiéreme mucho by Gonzalo Roig and Hasta que te conocí by Alberto Aguilera.
The audience enjoyed emotional interpretations, songs that surely marked a moment in the life of more than one and this Saturday night, some attendees took the opportunity to raise their voices and join the artists in the singing.
In the end, all the voices and the pianist received loud applause from the public and a floral arrangement by the Cultural Institute of Mazatlan.
