Seeking to capture a strong cultural exchange link between contemporary Mexico and the United Kingdom, the regiomontano musician and producer Eusebio Sánchez presents the concert “Xilitla”, a name inspired by the municipality in that English artist Edward James created the enigmatic sculptural garden of Las Pozas this Tuesday, October 15 at 8:00 p.m. at Casa Haas.

In the mid-20th century James found in Xilitla, San Luis Potosí, the perfect geographical point to materialize his fervent surrealist dream: to create a Garden of Eden. Leaving aside his vast wealth in the United Kingdom, the eccentric millionaire decided to spend the rest of his days in beautiful Huasteca Potosina, leaving as his heritage, an impressive sculptural space with works that surprise not only the inhabitants of the region, but the whole world.

Using Xilitla as a conceptual flag, and with the advice of Anglo Arts (MX) and the City Music Foundation (UK), Eusebio Sánchez will offer a program composed of both nationalist composers such as Manuel M. Ponce, as well as an irreverent young Briton, Oliver Christophe Leith, to offer a tour of folk languages and currents of contemporary music.

The “Xilitla” concert is part of the 2019 PROFEST program. Admission is free.
