This Thursday the Festival Cultural Mazatlán 2020 had a great musical night with the concert “Lo que nos hace felices” (what makes us happy), in which the members of the Modern Music Ensemble of the Mazatlán Municipal Arts Center offered a sample of their talent and versatility.

First, violinist Laura Hauer and percussionist Max Carreón presented Davis P. Jones’s “Legal Highs,” a vibrant and intense piece that was ideal to start this journey with some of the best composers in contemporary music.

Subsequently, the Ensemble modified its formation to a quartet in which Hauer and Pablo Mejía played the piano and Javier Sánchez joined maestro Carreón in a complex percussion set to execute the enigmatic and dizzying “Die Arten Des Wassers”, by Nebojsa Jovan Zivkovič.

The end of the concert came with the “Huapango”, by José Pablo Moncayo, a lively and colorful piece that has become an emblem of Mexican music, in which the CMA Modern Music Ensemble emphasized its rich percussion section.

In this way, the artists said goodbye to the public in an event with which the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán showed its commitment to diversify the cultural panorama of the port.
