“The Florida Project” will be interesting and impressive. Written and directed by Sean Baker in 2017, a film that will be screened this Saturday, February 4th at 6:00 pm in the Cinema of the Municipal Center of the Arts.
During this movie, the author transports us to the surroundings of Disney World to introduce us to a world of misery and hopelessness, where little Moonee (Brooklynn Prince) lives with her young mother Halley (Bria Vinaite) at the Magic Castle motel, a site with purple walls that are home to low-income families, single mothers, drug dealers and sex workers.
Unable to get a good job, Halley resorts to selling bogus perfumes in order to pay the $38 daily room rate. While her mother works, Moonee and her little friend Scooty (Christopher Rivera) spend the hot summer days getting into mischief and serious trouble.
Bobby, a role played by Willem Dafoe, is the manager of the motel who always comes to the rescue of the little ones and in a certain way has become the father figure that both require.
The film is projected in its original language with Spanish subtitles.
The projections are made in the Cinema of the CMA. Enterance on Carnaval street in Plazuela Machado. Access begins at 5:40 pm and the doors close at 6:00 pm to start the show. Free admission without ticket, limited space.
