The “Percutata” concert held at Casa Haas with the performance of students from the Percussion Workshop, Technical level and the Bachelor of Music, was a pleasant musical evening that made dozens of attendees dance.
Under the leadership of Max Carreón, Omar Ríos and Juliana Vilchis, before a demanding public, the students showed the skills acquired throughout the school year by interpreting a pleasant program with melodies from the traditional Chiapas marimba, urban sounds, tango, and pleasant jazz pieces.
After their presentation, maestra Juliana Vilchis and the student Miguel Alduenda opened the concert with “Escualo duo de marimba”, an iconic melody by the Argentinean Astor Piazzolla.
Students Miguel Moreno, Francisco López, Karla Veitia and Javier Brito went on stage to play “Percutata”, a piece that gave the concert its name and which was composed by Gerardo Tamez of Mexico. The applause did not hold back.
With the flavor of Sinaloa at the rhythm of attacks, soloist Javier Brito took the prize with two Brazilian samba classics: “Concierto para timbales” and “Ensamble de percussiones”.
Nahuiolin Ávila, Joshua Tejeda and Ricardo Medina took the stage to interpret “Comedian’s gallop”, a work by the Soviet Dmitri Borísovich Kabalevsky. Gabriela Rosas and Miguel Moreno continued, shining when they interpreted the piece “Interstellar”.
Directed by maestro Omar Ríos, Javier Brito, Francisco López, Deneb Guzmán and David López brightened up the afternoon with jazz pieces like “Chamellon” and “All of me”, pieces where each musician performed musical solos.
Melissa Osuna, Elis Tirado, Samantha Acosta, Gael Escobar, Paul Arámburo, Saul López, Eric Rodríguez, Christopher Orrante, Sofia Carrillo, Simón Guerra and Emiliano Lizárraga, boys and girls who attend the different workshops, were accompanied by Max Carreón in the interpretation of “Suavecito” and “Cachita”, while the attendees began to dance to close the afternoon with joy.
