On Friday he will give mention to Emeritus Members
This Thursday, March 16th at 5:00 p.m., Dr. Jaime Labastida Ochoa will give the keynote address “The Humboldt Cosmos” at the Ángela Peralta Gallery.
In the talk organized by the Colegio de Sinaloa in collaboration with the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán, Dr. Labastida will talk about Alexander von Humboldt, a prominent botanist, zoologist, geologist, pioneer in the scientific study on the influence and transformation of climate in the different regions of the world, one of the “rediscoverers” of the American continent, and one of the most renowned naturalists in history.
Jaime Labastida, a prominent philosopher, poet, essayist, writer, and teacher since 1961, will speak about the contributions of the German researcher, ranked among the most relevant scientists of the 19th century.
The illustrious man from Sinaloa has promoted projects related to the promotion of specialized chairs in Mexican universities; he has participated in activities in favor of culture and humanity in several countries, his theoretical work, essayist and literary creation has been translated into English, French, Japanese, Italian, Russian and Portuguese. His poetic work has been included in the most important national and foreign anthologies.
As part of the activities of El Colegio de Sinaloa in Mazatlán, on Friday, March 17th at 10:30 a.m. at Casa Haas, said institution will name Doctor Jaime Labastida, Maestro Antonio López Sáenz and Doctor Jaime Martuscelli Quintana as Emeritus Members.
