To open new cultural spaces in Mazatlán and expand the projection of artistic expressions, the Instituto Vidalia medical group created “Vidalia Arte”, and its first project was inaugurated last Friday: the collective exhibition “In the beginning…”.
The work of artists Ana Merino, Cecilia Sánchez Duarte, Aurora Acosta, Karla Holler, Guadalupe Aguilar and Brenda Virginia Castro were selected for this exhibition that will remain open to the public from March 10th to June 9th and can be visited from Monday to Friday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon and from 4:00 to 7:30 pm at the Vidalia Institute facilities, located on the fourth floor of Sharp Hospital Mazatlán.
In the opening ceremony, doctors Didilia Bejarano and Efrén Peraza, – who lead the Instituto Vidalia team – underlined the interest in offering the clinic’s facilities to mount exhibitions.
They stressed that the purpose of Vidalia Arte is to create a link with the Mazatlecan community.
“We are a group convinced that health should not only be physical but emotional, mental. Well-being must be comprehensive, in this case, women are the pillar of the family and must be valued in all these aspects, not only in the clinical one”.
The idea is that while our patients wait for the consultation, they can enjoy and be enriched through the expressions of these artists who express their art, their talent and share all these wonderful works with us”, said Dr. Bejarano about this first project that was inaugurated within the framework of the celebrations of International Women’s Day.
The cultural manager Elisa Ramírez, a member of the Vidalia Arte team, commented that through this exhibition she hopes that the world of medicine and art can establish a dialogue and a certain communion, at least, in this space.
“I think it’s a great opportunity to change and help patients have new experiences, but also, it helps artists to have more diverse audiences, audiences that aren’t used to going to a gallery and that maybe they can connect with the goal of the artist and that helps to generate more dialogue”.
For his part, Fernando Alarriba, a member of the Vidalia Arte cultural management team, highlighted the important commitment that the members of the Vidalia Institute are making with this initiative.
“Mazatlán needs more spaces for art. The doctors of the Vidalia Institute truly believe that culture represents a path for the development of society and they are demonstrating it through a concrete project,” he said.
The pieces that make up the exhibition “In the beginning…” will be for sale.
