After two weeks without activity, this Saturday, April 22nd at 6:00 p.m., the projections return to the Cinema of the Municipal Center for the Arts, this time “La Strada” will be exhibited, a film by Italian director Federico Fellini in 1954, which in 1956 won the Oscar for best foreign language film.

The film is projected in its original Italian language with Spanish subtitles, admission is free with limited space, the public entering through the CMA door located on Calle Carnaval on Plazuela Machado.

This movie classic stars the Mexican Anthony Quinn, who in his career was twice winner of an Oscar for Best Actor. He plays Zampanó; Giulietta Masina is Gelsomina and Richard Basehart is the Jester.

In “La Strada” Zampanó, a strong itinerant artist, widows and buys Gelsomina, a naive woman who somehow reminds us of Chaplin’s vagabond character, despite Zampanó’s violent and aggressive nature, the girl feels attracted to the style of his nomadic life, always on the street, especially when her owner includes her in the show.

Although several of the colorful characters that she meets in her wanderings suggest that she join them, Gelsomina will remain faithful to Zampanó until her last consequences.

It is considered a beautiful film, full of humanity, where the characters make up a duo of beings as contradictory as they are similar, two uprooted, in need of love, recognition, meaning.
