Emblematic and endearing characters that emerged from the overflowing imagination of Francisco Gabilondo Soler will captivate the Mazatlecan public through “Historias de un Grillo” [histories of a cricket]. The production will be presented at the Ángela Peralta Theater on Saturday, the 29th at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 30th at 12:00 noon.

This special production for Spring Season 2023 presented by the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán, combines the music of the notable composer from Veracruz, this time by the Camerata Mazatlán under the baton of maestro Sergio Freeman and the characterization of the characters from “Cri Cri” el Grillito Cantor, through the choreographic interpretation of students from the Municipal Ballet School.

The repertoire that will be performed by renowned professional musicians and 62 students from the Municipal Ballet School under the artistic direction of teacher Zoila Fernández, includes the songs: “La patita”, “La marcha de las letras”, “La merienda”, “Shoe party”, “El chorrito”, “Che araña”, “Chong ki fu”, “El ropero”, “Canción de las brujas”, “Caminito de la escuela”, “La muñeca fea” and “La bold cucurumbé”, among others.

“We think that they are songs that contribute a lot to children and youth, because we not only train future dancers, but also future professionals, who sometimes do not know that in Mexico there are different musical composers who have contributed a legacy, not only because of wealth of the lyrics, also for the musical richness”, expresses the teacher, choreographer and essayist Zoila Fernández.

One of the fundamental objectives of the Municipal School of Classical Ballet is for students to acquire cultural knowledge that provides them with elements as professionals or human beings for future life.

Historias de un Cricket will be repeated in four shows, one for the general public, another presentation to benefit the municipal DIF System and two free shows for basic level students.

Tickets for the performances on April 29 and 30 available at the Ángela Peralta Theater box office. $300.00 $250.00 $200.00 and $150.00.
