José Luis Franco Rodríguez was a tireless promoter of culture, particularly writing, recognized the General Director of the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán.

Raúl Rico González highlighted that Pepe Franco was an important promoter of literary activity in Mazatlán and among his merits he founded the Book and Arts Fair.

“His texts and those of his colleagues were published week by week in La Página, a section he was in charge of in a local newspaper, where practically all those who dabbled in writing had their space,” said Raúl Rico.

The official regretted the death of the writer who excelled in teaching and directed the Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán in the period 2008 – 2010.

After this, only his illness could put a pause on his creative activity, but his indomitable spirit, his sense of humor, still prevail, the General Director of Cultura assured.

Raúl Rico recognized the literary work of José Luis Franco, in which the novel ¿Quién inhabita el Ángela Peralta? stands out. It is a tropical reference and its stories reunited with Las memorias de Roque Latripa, among other chronicles published in newspapers and cultural magazines.
