Un Mar de Huellas [a sea of footprints], a dance work that fuses the talent of the Mazatlán Professional School of Dance and the Sinaloa Superior School of Dance, was presented on the night of Sunday, April 23rd at the Angel Peralta Theater.

The pieces that make up the program that premiered that night speak of mourning, loss, memories and were offered as a tribute to the memory of Max Corrales.

Given the painful circumstances surrounding the recent murder of the dancer Max -a graduate of the 16th generation of the EPDM-, dancers, teachers and students from both institutions and the public present, lamented the death of the artist from Cosala in the presence of parents and relatives, who received words of encouragement and hugs of solidarity from the artistic community.

Through the projection of a video and a minute of applause, Max’s memory was honored: “May dance continue to accompany your path to the universe, we love you Max”, was the text that covered the stage of the Ángela Peralta Theater.

Johnny Millán, costume designer of the piece “Edén” admitted that dance was presented as an element of consolation, solidarity and support in the face of the circumstance.

“It is a bit shady to present at this time, it also coincided with this situation and what better way to honor the memory of Max and honor him with a function of the two schools, the Professional School of Dance of Mazatlán and the Superior School of Danza de Culiacán too, he was involved there in some way because he danced in Danza Joven”.

In “Un Mar de Huellas” do you find any parallels in this context, in what is going to be expressed?

“Precisely the three pieces that are going to be presented, brand new, talk about mourning, loss, memories and the last piece is by Francisco Córdova, and Max danced with Francisco Córdova, so there is something there that involves the whole situation. Besides, the piece is like super physical, he was super physical, I think it’s in any of the pieces that are going to be presented, that is, his spirit was so strong, he was so happy and so sensitive”.

The pieces presented were, “Ellas, Ellos, Ellas” (ESDS) by choreographer Javier Alejandro Pérez Caicedo; “Sudando Lágrimas” (EPDM/Premiere) by guest choreographer Ronen Izhaki; “El Reparto de lo Sensible” (ESDC) with the choreography of Shantí Vera; “Frágil Secreto” (EPDM/Premiere) under the choreography of Claudia Lavista (SNCA/SACPC 2020-23) and “Edén” (EPDM/Premiere) under the direction of Francisco Córdova.
