Strengthening values such as discipline, responsibility, tolerance and respect for teamwork and preserving, maintaining and spreading our traditions, are some of the benefits provided by the Youth Folkloric Ballet Workshop of the Municipal Center of the Arts.
The workshop is aimed at young people from 12 to 18 years of age who have developed a taste or interest in interpreting regional dances and expanding their knowledge of the dances, customs and traditions of Mexico.
Erick Carrillo, coordinator of the CMA Youth Folkloric Ballet Workshop, indicated that for the new school year it is still possible to enroll.
The young teacher and dancer of the Folkloric Ballet of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán assured that in the port the taste for the study of regional dance and folkloric dance has been increasing.
Originally there were only four dancers in Ballet Folklorico Juvenil and currently there are 24 young people during classes and in presentations before the public, a fact that motivates and inspires them, he added.
Erick Carrillo considered that the Workshop provides discipline and allows the rescue of traditions and culture (inherited) through the years that have been lost with the use of technology.
“But the music, the rehearsals and the knowledge of the dances and traditions of the different states of the Mexican Republic make the student embrace their origins and fall more in love with their country”, he assured.
Carrillo highlighted the excellent school environment that allows the progressive advancement of students.
The folkloric dance rehearsals are from Monday to Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.; advanced students attend Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and beginners attend Tuesday and Thursday.
The CMA Folkloric Ballet works under the guidance and general direction of maestro Javier Arcadia and aims for the dancers to reach a professional level in their artistic performance that allows them to be part of the Folkloric Ballet company of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán.
