The most human and intellectual side of the Maestra Lucila Santiago is reflected in each of the 26 pieces that make up the collection “Papeles Migrantes” [Migrant Papers] collages and monotypes, an exhibition that opened on the night of Thursday, September 12th at the Rubio Gallery.
Accompanied by friends and the public of all ages who came to this opening, the visual artist presided over the successful opening ceremony at 7:00 p.m.
Maestra Monica Rice, Coordinator of Fine Arts at the Municipal Center of the Arts, welcomed those present and shared her admiration for the career of more than five decades of the protagonist of the gallery.
Enrique Vega Ayala, official chronicler of Mazatlán, in his emotional message highlighted the quality that permeates each piece of Lucila Santiago, and prior to the formalization of the event, he read some words written by Guadalupe Aguilar where he highlights the creativity and reflection on everything that migrates, from a piece of paper to humans.
In light of this event, Lucila Santiago spoke, thanked the attendees and invited them to preserve the world, and asked the students to make her gallery an object of study and inspiration, because with little material great landscapes can be created.
“I feel very happy, because I have already accomplished what I had proposed, I was able to accomplish it, which is to finish one cycle and thus begin the other. What is the next cycle? That is still a mystery. I invite young students and those who like art to appreciate this gallery because a lot can be done with very little,” she added.
The exhibition Migrant Papers, Collages and Monotypes will remain open to the public until October 25th, admission is free.
