Margarito Cuellar Zárate, winner of the 2022 Clemencia Isaura Poetry Prize, presented the poetry book “Un pálido reflejo en la ecuación del agua”, with which he obtained the prestigious award within the LXXXVII Floral Games of the Mazatlán International Carnival.
The poet from San Luis Potosí met with his readers last Thursday afternoon at Casa Haas where he was received by Lupita Cárdenas and María Félix Raygoza, who presented the work and moderated the talk within the framework of the Literary Thursday program, coordinated by María Muñiz with the support of the Mazatlán Institute of Culture.
María Félix Raygoza described the collection of poems as a work that inspires and motivates, with passages that Mazatlan residents easily recognize.
The poems in the book evoke the sea, eroticism, and are a crystalline or pale journey in front of a mirror.
Poet Margarito Cuellar explained that he was inspired by photographs of Mazatlán published by Geovanni Osuna, where he saw the pale reflection of the sun at sunset. He added that his poetry is a reflection of everything that surrounds him.
Margarito Cuellar, a master in Arts from the UAN, is the author of several books of poetry, including “Últimos eventos en torno a la alegría” (Quito, 2023), “Pata de Perro” (Bogotá, 2023) and “En el hotel de la vida todos somos invitados” (Mexico, 2022).
Lupita Cárdenas commented that the presence of Margarito Cuellar in Mazatlán was especially significant, since October 24th is International Library Day and his work has been partially translated into more than 20 languages.
At the end, María Muñiz presented a recognition granted by CULTURA to the award-winning writer, who signed his poetry collection to those who bought the book.
