Last Wednesday, October 24th, at the Ángela Peralta Gallery, the presentation of the digital book “Eclipse Mazatlán, Symphonic Vision, Chronicles of a Foretold Night” was held. This event was attended by Enrique Vega, Rubén Romero Ibarra and David Esquivel.
Enrique Vega Ayala on behalf of CULTURA welcomed the public and said that the book is the result of a joint effort between La Crónica de Sinaloa, the Mazatleca Astronomical Society, the Mazatleca, el Instituto Municipal de Cultura Turismo y Arte and the Science Center of Sinaloa. These organizations called on chroniclers and writers to share their experiences about the eclipse of April 8th, 2024, which had Mazatlán as the center of the phenomenon.
The publication includes photographs that illustrate the experiences narrated, which makes it especially striking.
Rubén Romero Ibarra highlighted that the project began with the proposal of the chronicler Jaime Félix Pinto and that they did not expect the impact that the call caused. He recognized the collaboration of David Esquivel, a member of SAMAZ, for the integration of optical instruments so that society could have a complete experience in the observation of the phenomenon, which helped people to make chronicles in a very professional way.
David Esquivel thanked the support of the Instituto de Cultura de Mazatlán for making this event a wonderful experience of international projection. He also emphasized the relationship between astronomy and the chronicle to have records of what happens in the sky and to carry out research that helps to know what happens in space.
At this presentation it was also reported that the digital book “Eclipse Mazatlán Symphonic Vision Chronicles of a (Very Brief) Night Foretold” is ready to be freely downloaded from the website of the Instituto de Cultura Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán. https://culturamazatlan.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/vision-oct-16.pdf
