The “Marco Lugo” Cinema of the Municipal Center for the Arts opens its doors this Saturday at 6:00 p.m. to screen the exciting war film “Civil War” (2024), a work written and directed by filmmaker Alex Garland, with a great cast headed by Kirsten Dunst.

This feature film is produced by A24, and immerses us in an ultra-realistic dystopia where the United States is in the midst of a second civil war.

The plot follows a group of reporters who undertake a dangerous journey to Washington D.C. with the aim of interviewing the president before rebel forces take the White House.

Featuring standout performances, especially from Kirsten Dunst as photojournalist Lee Smith, the film offers a chilling and lucid view of a country fractured by violence and politics. Garland avoids simplistic political discourse, opting instead for a nuanced reflection on American division, presenting a provocative and action-packed narrative that leaves the viewer questioning the nature of contemporary society. It is not just a war story; it is a warning disguised as a thriller.

The film is screened in English with Spanish subtitles, access is through the main door of the CMA next to the Angela Peralta Theater, open 20 minutes before the screening. Free admission, limited capacity.
