The Mazatlán Professional Dance School of the Instituto de Cultura.de.Mazatlan, Tourism and Art received the visit of Paola Madrid, a prominent Belgian-Mexican choreographer and dancer, who came to the city to begin the creative process of a choreography with Johnny Millán, co-director of the EPDM.
Paola Madrid, a graduate of the EPDM, is known for her technique of spontaneous composition and creation in space and at the precise moment. She is listed as one of the best in improvisation in contemporary dance, inspired by teacher and choreographer David Zambrano.
Her artistic platform, Sorta Project, is recognized for its productions, pedagogical content and innovative artistic collaborations.
During her stay in Mazatlán, Paola Madrid shared her experience and knowledge with the EPDM students, and worked on the creation of a choreography that will continue to be developed in Brussels, Belgium. This collaboration is possible thanks to the scholarship obtained by Johnny Millán as a stage creator with a career.
Paola Madrid’s visit to Mazatlán is an example of the rich connection between the culture and art of the city and the world. Her presence is an honor for the EPDM since she is a graduate of the Generation X.
