The Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlán will pay tribute to Julio Preciado, the Giant of the Band, for his 25 years as King of Joy of the Mazatlán International Carnaval.
Julio Preciado remembers his coronation in the year 2000, during the Carnaval of the Millennium.
“The Fisherman Monument was dressed up that night. It was one of the most spectacular coronations in the history of the Port’s Carnaval, broadcast live on the ECO network and covered by national and international media such as Televisa, TV Azteca and Univisión, among others,” he says excitedly.
Grateful to life and to Cultura Mazatlán, for considering him to receive this recognition, the professional singer points out that during his reign he lived a wonderful year and hopes that very soon he will be able to give himself the luxury of parading in his Mazatlán.
Accustomed to stages and crowds, Julio Preciado confessed that his best memory is the Carnaval parade on Sunday, since he had never experienced anything similar, he considers it to be one of the longest and most multitudinous concerts of his career. During the parade more than 5 thousand cassettes were distributed, and the same number of compact discs, shirts and T-shirts, which caused a sensation throughout the party.
Proud of what he experienced, SGM Julio Preciado, remembered that during the parade on Tuesday with less stress, he experienced these moments in his fun style.
Julio Preciado confesses that his love for the Carnaval began as a child thanks to his grandmother Teófila, who took him to see the parades and planted the seed that years later would become the Preciado Dynasty. His daughter Yuliana was also Children’s Queen in 2009, and hopes that her grandchildren will continue the tradition.
“Lorenzo (Yuliana’s son) was just born and he surely has music inside him, I have no doubt that he will join the party, and I think that we should keep this beautiful tradition alive, because the Carnaval unites families,” he said.
Finally, the Giant of the Band invited all countrymen, national and foreign tourists to come and enjoy the “La Perla” edition of the Carnaval Mazatlán, which this year promises great surprises and magnificent concerts by artists of international stature.
