The royal outfits that Lucero I, Queen of the Mazatlán International Carnaval 2025 and Desiré I, Queen of the Centennial of the Floral Games, will wear will merge the features of haute couture and tradition, said designer Andrés Romo.
Originally from Escuinapa, but settled for years in Milán, Italy, the Sinaloa native expressed via telephone his emotion at this responsibility, which he appreciates and promises creations that will be remembered, and above all that will inspire more women to become the sovereigns of the maximum fiesta of the Port.
“On this occasion, shantung fabric will be the protagonist, it will be a very pretty orange color that will give structure and movement, both in the skirt and in the corset, sleeves and even the train. It will be gold, as tradition says, the queen’s dress will have garigoles in golden and bronze tones to highlight the embroidery, there will also be some turquoise and royal blue crystal stones to give it a touch of color and create contrasts,” he said.
The renowned fashion designer said that the dresses of the Carnaval Queen and the Queen of the Floral Games will be made in the Sodelva Ríos workshop.
For the Carnaval Queen, Andrés Romo was inspired by the underwater habitat, the flora, the fauna and that impressive enchanted world that is known in images, experiences, or the narratives that describe it.
“I feel very excited and at the same time I have a feeling that I hope that they like it, when it comes to important figures such as the Carnaval Queen, who represents all the people of Mazatlán, and the Queen of the Floral Games, who represents culture and the arts, I still can’t believe that I’m going to make them,” he exclaimed.
From the designer’s perspective, he created a high-level dress, which has a haute couture atmosphere, it is solemn, the main elements that a Carnaval dress should have, it will be magnificent and wherever the queen goes, it will be noticed, and it will make the girls, the future queens of the Carnaval, dream, it has elements such as grandeur, respect, and almost, almost a touch of religion in that dress, he concluded.
