The Floral Games of the Mazatlan International Carnaval 2025 “La Perla”, witnessed a historic moment with the coronation of her gracious majesty, Desirée I. The new sovereign not only captivated with her beauty and dazzled with her royal attire.

The highlight of the night was the coronation of Desirée I, by the poet winner of the 2025 Clemencia Isaura Poetry Prize, Armado Alanís Pulido, for his work “The beautiful noise of the bicycle that brings us pizza”. This gesture symbolized the union between beauty and words, pillars of the Floral Games.

Desirée I’s costume is a tribute to the tradition and culture that the Floral Games represent. A true work of art by fashion designer Andrés Romo, made by Sodelva Ríos, it is composed of two pieces that highlight the elegance and poise of the Queen. The full, majestic skirt, meticulously embroidered with intricate details, is combined with a long, spectacular train.

The embroidery on the royal dress sparkled under the stage lights, creating a stunning visual effect. The train, which extended majestically behind the queen, added a touch of sophistication to the dress.

Desirée I wore her dress with grace, complementing her natural beauty with the magnificence of her outfit. The combination of the golden color and carefully selected textures highlighted the figure of Her Majesty and enhanced her presence on stage.

The relevance of the event was reinforced by the presence of distinguished personalities, including the Mayor of Mazatlán, Estrella Palacios Domínguez, and, representing the Governor of Sinaloa, Rubén Rocha Moya, Dr. Eneyda Rocha Ruiz, president of the DIF System – Sinaloa, attended. Her attendance underlines the government’s support and recognition of this important cultural event, which distinguishes Carnaval Mazatlán from the rest of the carnivals in Mexico.

Prior to the coronation under the protection of the emblematic figure of the mermaid, which represents this cultural festival on our coat of arms, in the Teodoro Mariscal stadium, the people of Mazatlán witnessed an emotional tribute to Jazmín Malcampo Mendoza, Queen of the Floral Games in 2000, to commemorate 25 years of her reign and also paid tribute to Lorena Xibillé for 50 years of reign but without a doubt the most emotional moment of the night was the surprising presence of Jeannette Collard, Queen of the Floral Games in 1956, who accompanied by her grandchildren, received strong ovations 69 years after her reign.

To highlight the enthronement of Desireé I, emotional choreographic scenes were presented. The first of them, entitled “Mazatlán, Tierra de Venados”, accompanied by the “roar of the sea”, recreated fundamental aspects of the history of this deep-rooted tradition, taking the public on a journey through time, with the participation of the Mazatlán Ballet Company, directed by the teacher Zoila Fernández, rehearsaler of the choreographic montage by maestro Eduardo Blanco.
