The Instituto Municipal de Cultura, Turismo y Arte de Mazatlan will celebrate children this Saturday, April 12th, with the screening of the film “Flow” (2024), directed by filmmaker Gints Zilbalodis. The screening is at 6 p.m. at the Marco A. Lugo Cinema. Free admission. Limited seating.

“Flow” is a unique animated work that completely dispenses with dialogue to tell a visually striking and emotionally resonant story. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where nature has reclaimed its space, the film follows a gray cat who, after a devastating flood, finds himself stranded on a boat. On his journey, the feline joins a diverse group of animals, including a Labrador retriever, a lemur, and a capybara, all forced to coexist and collaborate in search of a new home.

The film’s originality and technical execution were widely recognized during awards season, winning the 2025 Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film, in addition to four awards at the 2024 Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

The film addresses themes such as resilience, survival, and interdependence between species, offering a subtle yet powerful message about the fragility of ecological balance.

“Flow” has been praised for its ability to immerse the viewer in a unique sensory experience, evoking feelings of melancholy, hope, and awe at the majesty of nature.

Admission to this screening is free, with limited seating. It begins at 6:00 PM and opens 20 minutes beforehand at the main entrance to the CMA, located on Calle Carnaval S/N on Plazuela Machado.
