The Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art invites you to participate in the traditional Dance Troupe Contest (*Concurso de Comparsas*) of the Mazatlán International Carnival, taking place from February 4 to 9, 2027, under the theme “We Love Our Traditions.”
Interested groups may register now; the deadline is Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 3:00 PM, at the Institute of Culture offices (Av. Miguel Alemán No. 203, Centro District).
Troupes must consist of mixed-gender groups of 30 to 35 participants (aged 13 and older).
Preliminary Event: Registered groups will participate in a preliminary event on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, where discipline, commitment, creativity, and teamwork will be evaluated.
Groups selected to compete will be notified on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
Prizes and Recognition
The judging panel will award attractive cash prizes to the top three finishers: 1st Place: $80,000.00 MXN; 2nd Place: $60,000.00 MXN; 3rd Place: $40,000.00 MXN.
Additionally, the winning troupes will automatically become “Royal Exhibition Troupes” for the following year’s edition.
Parade Appearances
Selected participants must perform in both official parades:
First Parade: Sunday, February 7, 2027. Second Parade: Tuesday, February 9, 2027.
