To enhance safety in cultural spaces and equip staff with the essential knowledge needed to handle emergencies, employees of the Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art participated in a training course on fire prevention and firefighting.

The session took place at the “Marco Lugo” Cinema within the Municipal Center for the Arts and was led by Fire Captain Jesús Juárez, who shared his expertise, experiences, and recommendations on preventing incidents and responding effectively to fire.

Using images, videos, and anecdotes gathered throughout his career, the specialist clearly explained the risks that can trigger a fire, the preventive measures to be implemented in the workplace, and the importance of conducting periodic inspections of public buildings.

During the presentation, Jesús Juárez covered the methods of fire spread—conduction, convection, and radiation—as well as various procedures for extinguishing fires. These topics sparked particular interest among the attendees, who asked questions to learn the correct course of action for different scenarios.

Cultura Mazatlán staff participated in the training, taking advantage of the Fire Captain’s expertise to clarify doubts, expand their knowledge, and understand the importance of identifying risk factors early on.

It was emphasized that prevention begins with observing the building’s conditions, detecting potential ignition sources, and pre-planning the actions to be taken in the event of an incident.

Captain Jesús Juárez explained the proper use of fire extinguishers and their importance in responding quickly and safely to the early stages of a fire.
