El Cinematógrafo at the Municipal Center for the Arts will resume activities on Saturday, August 29, at 12:30 PM with a screening of the documentary short *La Fuerza del Silencio* (The Strength of Silence). The event will feature the special participation of the film’s producer and cinematographer, Iñaki Luis, as well as students from the film diploma and workshop programs.
Set in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, the film—directed by Samuel Vela—follows the story of Letebirhan, a 17-year-old girl whose life has been deeply affected by war; she faces social rejection after surviving the violence of armed conflict.
Through the daily task of baking bread and the traditional coffee ceremony, the documentary portrays how women in the region transform silence into an act of resistance and sisterhood.
The screening aims to foster dialogue among filmmakers, students, and the community regarding the realities depicted in contemporary documentary cinema. Admission is free.
