- Vanessa Gama, Rose Ferreiro, and José Miguel Valenzuela—students of Maestro Enrique Patrón De Rueda—are performing in the Filarmónica de las Artes production in Mexico City.
Vocal talent trained and nurtured at the Municipal Arts Center (CMA) of the Mazatlán Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art has once again distinguished itself at the highest level of the national opera scene. Soprano Vanessa Gama, mezzo-soprano Rose Ferreiro, and bass José Miguel Valenzuela are part of the principal cast of *The Magic Flute*—one of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s most fascinating works—staged by the Filarmónica de las Artes.
The production, featuring live music, a chorus, theater, dance, and exceptional vocal performances, is being presented at the Fra Angélico Auditorium of the Centro Universitario Cultural in Mexico City, with six scheduled performances on August 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, and 29.
The three performers are members of the renowned vocal studio and Opera Workshop at the CMA led by conductor Enrique Patrón De Rueda. An expert in operatic singing and opera, Patrón De Rueda has played a pivotal role through his teaching and artistic mentorship in shaping new generations of vocal artists.
*Strong stage presence*
*Vanessa Gama (Soprano):* A graduate of the Vocal Performance program at the Municipal Arts Center (CMA) in Mazatlán, where she joined the Opera Workshop led by Maestro Enrique Patrón De Rueda. In this production, she performs the role of Pamina. Furthermore, after performing alongside Otto Sauter at the Pacific Brass Festival, he will represent Mexico in October 2026 at the finals of the prestigious *Neue Stimmen* competition in Germany.
*José Miguel Valenzuela (Bass):* Born in Torreón, he began his musical studies—specifically violin—in Aguascalientes, where he also started his vocal training. He later moved to Mazatlán to join the studio of instructors Enrique Patrón De Rueda and Martha Félix. In *The Magic Flute*, he portrays the character of Sarastro. He has performed at various venues across the country and currently works as a voice instructor at the CMA, where he teaches and actively collaborates in promoting operatic singing.
*Rose Ferreiro (Mezzo-soprano):* A graduate of the CMA’s Vocal Performance program and a student of Enrique Patrón De Rueda. She performs the role of the Third Lady. For the current season, she is joining the San Miguel Bel Canto Institute.
*The Result of Rigor and Artistic Training*
The coming together of these three talents in a production of national scale reflects the effectiveness of the training model championed by the Municipal Center for the Arts (CMA), which supports artists from their early stages through to their establishment on major stages.
The Mazatlán Municipal Institute of Culture, Tourism, and Art congratulates the performers and acknowledges the leadership of Enrique Patrón De Rueda, whose highly demanding teaching continues to build bridges between local instruction and the most important stages in Mexico and abroad. Through their participation in *The Magic Flute*, Vanessa Gama, Rose Ferreiro, and José Miguel Valenzuela proudly represent Mazatlán, Sinaloa, and reaffirm that hard work, dedication, and discipline pay off.
